Dmitry Peskov told reporters that numerous high-ranking guests, including presidents of African countries, would start arriving at the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg from tomorrow.
This, according to him, will lead to traffic difficulties and create “certain inconvenience” for residents of the northern capital.
“In order to minimize discomfort, such a recommendation was made,” Peskov said, commenting on Alexander Beglov’s appeal to employers with a request to transfer employees to remote work.
“We treat this with understanding,” the Kremlin speaker said, adding that the organizing committee of the summit also supports the governor’s proposal. “Peter has always been famous for his hospitality,” Peskov stressed.
Summit events will start on July 26, the forum itself will be held on July 27-28 at the Expoforum. However, according to some reports, some African guests may stay in St. Petersburg until Sunday, July 30, to watch the parade in honor of the Navy Day.
