Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the CSTO continues to maintain authority among the member states of this organization. This is how he commented on the words of the Prime Minister of the Republic Nikol Pashinyan that Armenia could withdraw from the CSTO. Earlier, Yerevan repeatedly questioned the effectiveness of this organization.
Peskov, for his part, stressed that, according to Moscow, the CSTO has repeatedly “demonstrated its effectiveness in various situations” and “has the potential for development.”
According to him, the Kremlin will “continue dialogue with Armenian friends” and, in particular, “talk with them on the subject of our further joint participation in the CSTO.”
Earlier it was reported that Pashinyan would arrive in Moscow this week. His meeting with Putin and Aliyev is expected on May 25 in the Kremlin. Today, the Prime Minister of Armenia announced that the republic’s authorities are ready to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as Azerbaijani territory, provided that the security of the Armenian population of Karabakh is ensured.
