The West’s munitions production capacity is limited, so there are “certain points of tension.” This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

“In general, the potential of the collective West for the production of ammunition is limited; it takes a lot of time to mobilize resources in order to increase the potential. Therefore, of course, certain points of tension arise,” he said.

Thus, Peskov commented on the words of Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, who announced a shortage of ammunition not only in Ukraine, but throughout the world. “We understand that we must produce them here in Ukraine, because all over the world they have run out, stocks have been depleted. All warehouses are empty,” said He.

In July 2023, US President Joe Biden statedthat Ukraine lacks ammunition, but the United States is not yet able to cover this deficit. In this regard, Washington approved the transfer of cluster munitions to Kyiv. This decision was made as a “transition period” until the United States increases production of 155-mm shells for Ukraine.

Earlier, Politico, citing sources in the Biden administration, also reported a serious depletion of European weapons stockpiles after 18 months of intense fighting in Ukraine.

At the beginning of October in the Kremlin stated, that support for Kyiv by Western countries will decline, since “technical capabilities have their limits, money tends to run out.” According to Peskov, this process is also influenced by “emotional fatigue,” and questions are also increasingly arising about “what exactly is the money of foreign taxpayers spent on.”
