Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov believes that the state of the country’s banking system will not be affected by the bankruptcy of American financial institutions. The Kremlin spokesman noted that the Russian banking system was “protected” from the impact of the situation in the United States by the sanctions imposed by the West.
“To a certain extent, we are insured against the negative impact of the crisis that is now unfolding across the ocean,” Mr. Peskov emphasized (quoted from TASS).
Now, due to Western sanctions, there is “virtually no” chance that the banking crisis in the US will spill over to Russia, he said.
Earlier in the United States, by decision of the authorities, two large financial organizations were closed – Signature Bank And Silicon Valley Bank (SVB). The United States financial authorities assured that taxpayers would not suffer losses from the collapse of credit institutions, and also promised that depositors of both banks would have access to their accounts. At the same time, the market capitalization of financial companies from around the world for two days of trading after the bankruptcy of SVB decreased for $465 billion.
