The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, is shamefully silent about the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strike on the center of Belgorod, according to a message from the Telegram channel of the Russian Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva. RIA Novosti reports this.
Russian diplomats noted that Turk does not deserve to hold this position. In their opinion, this reaction was predictable.
“It is no longer possible to hide the unequivocal political engagement of F. Turk and OHCHR towards Washington and Brussels. For an international human rights activist, this is a shame with which he has no right to occupy such a high position,” the statement says.
The Permanent Mission noted that this approach is the reason for poor relations between the Russian Federation and the UN OHCHR. They emphasized that Turk responded quickly enough to the Russian military strikes on Ukrainian military targets, expressing his “horror and condemnation” against Russia.
Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the center of Belgorod, killing 18 people, including 3 children, and injuring more than 100 people.
