Perm Mayor Alexei Demkin to resign

Perm Mayor Alexei Demkin wrote a statement about early resignation. About it reported in the press service of the city administration.
“The Perm City Duma has received a statement from the head of Perm, Alexei Demkin, about resignation. It is expected that the deputies will consider it at the next plenary meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, June 27,” the statement said.
According to information on the official Internet portal of the Perm Territory, Governor Dmitry Makhonin offered Demkin to go to work in the government of the region as a vice-premier.
Who can take Demkin’s place as mayor of Perm has not yet been officially specified. According to Kommersant, it could be Minister of Economic Development of the Perm Territory Eduard Sosnin, Minister of Social Development of the region Pavel Fokin, Advisor to the Governor, Head of the Legislative Assembly Committee on Infrastructure Development Pavel Cherepanov, Deputy Prime Ministers of the regional government Alexander Borisov, Andrey Alyakrinsky and Dmitry Samoilov, as well as the deputy heads of Perm, Eduard Khairullin or Olga Andrianova.
Alexey Demkin is 50 years old. He graduated from the Perm State Technical University with a degree in Aircraft Engines and Power Plants. Demkin began acting as mayor of Perm in December 2020, and in March 2021 he officially took office. At the end of November 2020, he was appointed deputy head of the city administration, and before that, from 2008 to 2018, he worked as deputy general director and sales director at the Perm Silicate Panel Plant, in 2018 he was appointed general director of the company.
