Perm governor denied conflict with the mayor of Perm – Kommersant

The governor of the Perm Territory, Dmitry Makhonin, commented on the information about the conflict with the head of Perm, Alexei Demkin, which appeared after his initiative to transfer some of the powers of the mayor’s office in favor of the regional government. “There are no conflicts: it is impossible to have a conflict between superiors and subordinates,” Mr. Makhonin said during a press conference today, June 8.
As before informed Kommersant, the bill was submitted by Dmitry Makhonin for consideration by the Legislative Assembly at the end of May. Kommersant’s sources associated it with the growing conflict between Mr. Makhonin and the head of Perm. The project involves the transfer to the level of the regional government of the powers of the administration in the field of land relations, heat and water supply, education, trade and advertising, waste management, as well as burial and funeral business. The redistribution is provided for an unlimited period from January 1, 2024. It is planned to consider the draft at the June plenary session of the Legislative Assembly.
Answering a question from journalists, the governor added that the city administration does not always cope with solving problems, so the redistribution of powers will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of public administration: “We want to solve problems that were not solved for one reason or another (including political ones). For example, the funeral industry is still criminal, and the city administration will not have the political will to solve this problem. We will have it, and we understand how to do it.”
“I think that Permians will only benefit from this. Someone is competent in the construction of houses, roads, social facilities. And someone in the issuance of letters. Let everyone work within their competence: colleagues in the city issue certificates, and we will work,” the governor added.
