At the age of 86, People’s Artist of Russia Vitaly Konyaev died yesterday, September 30, as reported on website Maly Theater. He is known, in particular, for his roles in films of the Thaw period – “Silence”, “Clear Sky” and “Song of Koltsov”.

Vitaly Konyaev was born on May 11, 1938 in Kronstadt. In 1958, he graduated from Leonid Volkov’s course at the M. S. Shchepkin Higher Theater School. In the same year he entered the service of the State Academic Maly Theater, where he worked all his life. As reported on website Maly Theater, during his theatrical career he performed more than a hundred roles.

In 1963, Mr. Konyaev joined the CPSU. In 1974 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR, in 1998 – Honored Artist of Russia. In 2006 he was awarded the Order of Friendship.
