Galkin’s concerts in Almaty and Astana were canceled due to technical reasons

The performances of comedian Maxim Galkin (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) at the Kazakhstan Central Concert Hall in Astana on October 8 and at the Palace of the Republic in Almaty on October 9 have been cancelled. Press service of the Central Clinical Hospital “Kazakhstan” reported about the cancellation of events from October 4 to October 10 due to technical work on the water supply networks, and the press service of the Almaty venue claims on Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) that the cancellation of concerts from October 1 is caused by the emergency condition of the stage mechanics .

The Palace of the Republic referred to the order of the State Institution “Department for Emergency Situations of the Medeu District Emergency Situations Department of Almaty” dated September 30. According to the press service, it takes two weeks to eliminate the violations.

“It turns out that on the same day in Astana and Almaty, the stage mechanics break down in one hall, and the water supply in the other! …Can I help the hall with renovations? Maybe we’ll have time? I really want to see the audience. If you postpone the concerts, will the halls be immediately available for other dates? And if so, isn’t it worth checking the sewerage system for these dates in advance?” – Mr. Galkin commented on the cancellation of concerts on Instagram (also owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned).

Previously, Maxim Galkin’s concert in Astana was supposed to take place on October 8 in the Rosa Baglanova Concert Hall, but the performance was canceled at the end of August. Department of Culture of Astana stated, that the cancellation is due to the fact that on this day a concert will be held at the site in honor of Teacher’s Day. Shortly before this, Mr. Galkin published a video on Instagram in which he said that in Kazakhstan “at the state level they are preventing” his speeches.

In June, the artist’s representative in Kazakhstan, Alexey Puchkov, in a conversation with “RIA News” reported problems with organizing concerts in Almaty scheduled for October. According to Mr. Puchkov, the organizers of the event opened ticket sales before concluding an agreement with the concert venue.
