Actor Vetrov told how Volchek donated $200 for a new sofa

The star of “Hotel Eleon” opened up at the opening of the season of “Sovremennik”
There is an opinion that in the Sovremennik Theater only those who have been there almost from the very beginning are considered truly “friends”. Meanwhile, the star of stage and screen Vladislav Vetrov came there “only” twenty years ago. This is how the actor described his “infusion” into the team led by Galina Volchek at a memorial evening held on October 1.
– Firstly, little happened here out of connections, out of friendship, maybe. How could a new person get there? On a competitive basis – through a show. And I showed up for quite a long time, different numbers. The verdict was made to accept me into the troupe. It’s very easy to remember now, but it was difficult. Rehearsing with Galina Borisovna was hell. Because the requirements are high, and to understand what is required… (it wasn’t easy)… I only exhaled during the run-through, during which Volchek said: “Look, he did it.”
Vetrov also admitted that his artistic director kept him “with a tight rein” during the first years:
– Once again there was time pressure, I sat down in the hall (to rest), she told me: “Are you not getting enough sleep, or what?”
“Yes,” I answer.
Several hours pass. Volchek hands me 200 dollars: “Here, buy a sofa.”
Outside of rehearsals, “she treated me like a mother,” Vetrov explained Galina Borisovna’s care.
