Pentagon: US support helped Ukraine counter Russia in the air

U.S. support ensured the fight against Russian air dominance in Ukraine, U.S. Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff Clinton Hinot said in a video conference call at an Atlantic Council conference.

“Our military must make a strong case, especially to Russia and China, that we can counteract the things they need to succeed. The case of Ukraine openly demonstrated opposition to Russian dominance in the air,” said Hinot (quote according to RIA Novosti).

Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov previously called the growing involvement of the United States in military support for Ukraine a dangerous trend. He added that if the United States turns to the side of the conflict, then Russia’s policy will not remain the same.

“The thinnest line that separates the United States from turning into a conflict, it should not serve as some kind of illusion for the rabid anti-Russian forces that, having crossed it, everything will remain as it is,” Ryabkov said.

After the start of the special operation, Western countries began to provide economic, political and military support to Ukraine. Large-scale sanctions were imposed against Russia, and weapons began to be supplied to Ukraine from the United States and European countries. Earlier, Russia sent a note of protest to all countries, including the United States, over the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that by pumping weapons to Ukraine, Western countries do not allow it to take constructive steps and do not allow it to negotiate with Russia.
