The US military will be able to train Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16 fighters in four months instead of 18, according to a Pentagon report. According to Yahoo News, the US military came to this conclusion after Kyiv sent two MiG-29 and Su-27 fighter pilots to the US for testing.
It is noted that Ukrainian pilots were evaluated by the most experienced US Air Force instructors, each of whom has thousands of hours of F-16 flight experience. Work on simulators showed that Ukrainian pilots are able to perform the necessary technical maneuvers and even attack.
The main problem in training Ukrainians at the Pentagon is the complex F-16 avionics in English. But they claim that even in two weeks, both pilots showed a “noticeable” improvement in English.
“Given the set of skills that the Ukrainian Air Force has demonstrated,” four months is a very realistic timeframe for mastering the F-16 aircraft, according to the US defense department.
