Assistant of the Department of Labor and Social Law of St Petersburg University Fatima Nogailiyeva told the agency “Prime”that in Russian legislation the process of dismissal of pensioners differs significantly from other categories of workers. The expert spoke about common mistakes made when retired workers leave.

So, a working pensioner has the right to stop working at any time. He is obliged to notify his employer two weeks before terminating the contract. Nogailieva pointed out that the indexation of payments due to non-working pensioners is carried out by the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation (PFR) will be carried out automatically next month. When an employee retires, there is no need to work for two weeks.

An employee of retirement age is prohibited from transferring to a fixed-term contract. If a pensioner or an employee of pre-retirement age was fired due to a reduction in staff, the employer is obliged to pay him a severance pay in the amount of the average monthly salary, pay for the second month if the dismissed person cannot find a job after dismissal.
