Margaret Battimer, 68, from Ireland, was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison for insulting Ukrainian refugees. Irish Times writes about it.
The scandal erupted in one of the hotels where the refugees were placed. The owner of the hotel said that Battimer asked how many Ukrainians live there and how much money the Irish paid for it. She also called Ukrainians rapists and criminals.
They tried to calm the woman, but she continued to make trouble. As a result, the police were called to the place, who decided to arrest her. The official reason is abusive behavior and insubordination to the police.
They agreed to postpone the verdict to the pensioner on the condition that she would not approach the places where the Ukrainians were staying.
