Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.
According to the website of the head of the Armenian government, Nikol Pashinyan called this visit unprecedented and expressed gratitude to Nancy Pelosi for her contribution to the US recognition of the Armenian genocide and support for Armenian democracy, as well as for “the US’s clear position regarding Azerbaijan’s aggression against Armenia.”
“In these and all other respects, we are a friend of Armenia,” the speaker said in response.
The report says that the parties then discussed a wide range of issues of the Armenian-American partnership, including the escalation on the border with Azerbaijan, the promotion of democracy and peace and stability in the region.
At the same time, the Armenian media also reported that Nancy Pelosi made a change in the agenda of her visit and also intends to meet with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan today.
