Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a statement regarding Nagorno-Karabakh within the 1991 borders, apparently under the influence of Western countries. This statement was made by Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev during a speech by the Knowledge Society marathon at the Russia forum and exhibition.
“He directly named the territories that belong to Armenia, which belong to Azerbaijan. I think that he made these recognitions and statements under the influence of the West. He negotiated with them,” Patrushev said.
After Azerbaijan carried out a military operation in Karabakh on September 19 of this year, the stated purpose of which was to dissolve the bodies of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. A few days later, an agreed ceasefire was reached. After several rounds of negotiations, a decision was made to terminate the existence of Karabakh from January 1, 2024. In turn, President Ilham Aliyev announced that the country had restored territorial integrity.
