A meeting was held in Moscow between Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev and President of the Republika Srpska (RS, part of Bosnia and Herzegovina) Milorad Dodik, reported Security Council press office.

“An exchange of views took place on the problems of regional security in the current geopolitical conditions,” the message says.

As Vedomosti sources in parliament noted earlier, Dodik, whose arrival was being prepared since spring, is expected to will meet also with Russian President Vladimir Putin. One of the main topics of negotiations between him and the Russian president may be the price of natural gas supplies to the RS. In February, the second person in the power structure of the RS arrived in Moscow – the speaker of the assembly of the republic, Nenad Stevandich. He held a meeting with Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matviyenko.

Dodik is one of the few European politicians who remained openly friendly towards Russia after the start of the special operation in Ukraine. He has met with Putin twice since February 2022 – in June on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and in September 2022.

During the June meeting at the SPIEF, Dodik said that “despite the hard day and hard times” he is very pleased that Russia has agreed “until the end of the year to maintain the current price of natural gas under the previous conditions.” In December 2021, Dodik said that he had agreed with Putin to keep the gas price for the Republika Srpska at the same level of $290 per 1,000 cubic meters. m.
