The situation in Afghanistan has been deteriorating rapidly over the 20 years that American troops have been there. This was stated by Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev during the fifth meeting of secretaries of security councils on the Afghan problem.
“Today, the current Kabul authorities are still reaping the fruits of the chaos left by the Americans, and the situation in the socio-economic sphere is rapidly degrading,” he said (cit. according to RIA Novosti).
In particular, in the period from 2001 to 2021. In Afghanistan, drug production has increased more than 40 times. According to Patrushev, it was the US military that contributed to the spread of drug trafficking in the country.
Patrushev claims that what is happening is due to the fact that the US, UK and their allies are preventing the sending of funds for humanitarian purposes and instead are blocking “their illegally frozen Afghan assets.” At the same time, part of these funds are reserved for paying compensation to the victims of the terrorist attacks that took place on September 11, 2001, although Afghanistan was not involved in these events in any way.
The United States invaded Afghanistan after the September 11, 2001 attacks, and in August 2021, after a long armed conflict, their troops were withdrawn from the country. After that, representatives of the Taliban terrorist organization banned in Russia came to power in Afghanistan. The new authorities introduced strict Sharia law, most of which affected women. For example, the latter were banned from working with men, playing sports and teaching members of the opposite sex, and girls from going to school.
