Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev arrived in China. Here he will have bilateral consultations on security.
The Russian representative will meet with members of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee Yang Jiechi and Guo Shengkun.
The agreements reached at the recent meeting between President Vladimir Putin and President Xi Jinping will be discussed, as well as “a wide range of topics aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of security.”
Previously, relations between Russia and China are like a “defective marriage”, and this is a relationship of “convenience, not trust”, stated U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, CNN reports.
According to Sherman, relations between Moscow and Beijing are “conditional, and not necessarily based on trust or on the unification of their efforts on all issues.”
