Patrushev announced the threat of placing American missiles in Japan

Japan’s participation in the US plans to deploy intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF) in Asia creates additional threats to the security of the Far East. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev in Magadan at a meeting on the security of the Far Eastern Federal District.

“An important role is also assigned to Japan in the plans of the Pentagon to deploy intermediate and shorter-range missiles in Asia, which creates additional security threats to our Far Eastern territories,” he said (quote according to RIA Novosti).

Patrushev drew attention to the fact that Washington continues to expand its military infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region, approaching the borders of Russia and China. According to the Secretary of the Security Council, in this way the United States seeks to maintain “its imaginary hegemony.” Tokyo, Patrushev continued, is thinking about obtaining nuclear weapons and is increasing its military budget and arms purchases, focusing on NATO.
