Pashinyan said there is no plan to change foreign policy

Armenia cannot change the vector of foreign policy, since it is always focused on its own interests, said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“Armenia’s foreign policy is transparent, and I do not believe that such formulations are appropriate. Armenia cannot change the vector of foreign policy in the sense that it is always focused on the state interests of the Republic of Armenia. Foreign policy always meets the interests of the country,” said Pashinyan (quote from Sputnik Armenia).

According to the agency, the politician did not comment on the statements of the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Yuri Kim, who earlier said that Washington should turn relations between countries into exactly “what we, the United States, would like to see them” for the conversation to be “about partnership with them, not with Russia.”

On the issue of Armenian-Russian relations, Pashinyan, according to him, proceeds from the statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin, write also RIA Novosti. “The leader, the President of the Russian Federation, stated that there are no problems with Armenia and the Prime Minister,” he said.

On September 3, Pashinyan, in an interview with the La Repubblica newspaper, said that Russia was moving away from the South Caucasus, and Russian peacekeepers had ceased to control the Lachin corridor. The Kremlin said that it could not agree with the prime minister’s theses, emphasizing that Russia is an integral part of the region. On September 11, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow is not afraid of losing its ally in Yerevan, because Russia and Armenia remain close. On September 12, Putin said that there had been no reversal in relations between Moscow and Yerevan.
