Pashinyan noted the contribution of the arrived Russians to the growth of the Armenian economy

The Armenian economy grew in 2022 thanks to the Russians who came to the country, Prime Minister of the Republic Nikol Pashinyan said.
“We planned growth in 2022 at the level of 7%. The growth was also facilitated by the influx of Russian citizens to Armenia,” the prime minister said (quote by Interfax). According to him, economic growth at the end of the year can reach 12.5-13%, in 2023 – at the level of 7%.
At the end of December, the Minister of Economy of the country Vahan Kerobyan stated that Armenia must to do everything to ensure that the Russians who have moved to the country and work remain in the republic as long as possible. The minister was concerned about the proposal of the speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin to increase taxes for Russians who left the country in recent months. According to him, Yerevan is already working to ensure that the decision of the Russian authorities has the least impact on Russian citizens working in Armenia.
On December 25, Volodin announced that it was necessary to cancel preferences for Russian citizens who left the country and introduce an increased tax rate for them. According to Volodin, it is wrong to give benefits and preferences to those who left the country so that they return back.
