Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, named three main principles that are necessary to achieve a peaceful settlement with Azerbaijan. In his speech in parliament at hearings on the 2024 budget, Pashinyan emphasized that compliance with these principles by the parties can help establish peace and normalize relations.
The first principle that Pashinyan spoke about is recognizing each other’s territorial integrity. Armenia recognizes that its territory is 29,800 square kilometers, while Azerbaijan’s territory is 86,600 square kilometers.
The second principle stated by the Prime Minister is to use the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration as the political basis for the delimitation and subsequent demarcation of the state border.
The third principle that Pashinyan drew attention to is the opening of all regional communications based on mutual respect for the sovereignty, jurisdiction and legislation of countries.
