The head of the Armenian government, Nikol Pashinyan, in an interview with the British publication The Telegraph, said that the latest statements by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev dealt a blow to peace negotiations between the countries.

Pashinyan emphasized that this blow is not a separate process; Yerevan regards it as a whole: it all started with ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh, followed by a refusal to meet in Granada, negotiations in Brussels and further meetings.

At the end of 2023, the Armenian side believed that the parties were one step away from agreeing on the final text of the peace treaty. As for relations with the EU, Armenia is ready to be as close to it as the EU deems possible, Pashinyan added.
