Pasechnik said that Ukraine controls 1% of the territory of the LPR

Under the control of Ukraine are three settlements in the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), which is about 1% of the region’s territory. About it informed Acting head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik in a conversation with the RIA Novosti agency.

According to him, Ukrainian troops are now occupying the village of Belogorovka, which is “completely destroyed”, and two more “very small settlements”. “This is, conditionally, one percent of the entire territory of the LPR,” said Pasechnik.

He called the situation in the republic “difficult, but controlled.” The acting head of the LPR noted that the Ukrainian side began to gather troops in the direction of the LPR. Pasechnik stressed that the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation are ready to repel possible attacks. He clarified that the territory of the LPR is defended by the People’s Militia of the Republic, the Russian military, as well as the fighters of the Akhmat special forces.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.

However, on November 9, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu ordered the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kherson to the left bank of the Dnieper after Sergei Surovikin, commander of the Joint Group of Russian Forces, made a report on the situation in the NVO zone. On November 11, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the completion of the withdrawal of troops from the city.

On the eve, November 16, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reportedthat the armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) tried to advance in the Kupyan direction in the Kharkiv region and the LPR. In particular, the enemy wanted to carry out an attack in the Novoselovsky area in the LPR. In the Krasnolimansky direction, Ukrainian troops tried to attack Russian positions near the village of Kolomyychikha of the LPR. It was noted that the RF Armed Forces repulsed all the strikes.
