Pasechnik called joining the Russian Federation in any status the main task of the LPR

The main task of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) now is to become part of Russia, while the status is not so important, said the head of the republic, Leonid Pasechnik.

“The main task is to win and become part of the Russian Federation … And who we will be there, it seems to me, this is not very important, it is important that we are together,” quotes his TASS.

Pasechnik also added that in any case, the LPR would have its own representative in Moscow.

Former head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov declaredthat the entry of the DPR and LPR into Russia can be carried out without holding referendums. According to him, the international community for the most part did not recognize the referendum in Crimea, although it was organized according to all legal norms.

“Recognition or non-recognition by certain states does not depend on how these territories are annexed. It is a matter of political will,” he said at the time.

Prior to this, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia and First Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Andrei Turchak said that referenda in Donbass “will definitely take place, and this year already.” He clarified that the most correct decision would be to hold them on November 4 – the Day of National Unity. He noted that this is the date that “unites us all.”
