The bill, according to which the state language in Moldova is proposed to be renamed Romanian, was approved by the parliament in the second reading, speaker Igor Grosu said.
The ruling Action and Solidarity party on March 2 approved the document in the first reading.
In the text of the Declaration of Independence of Moldova, Romanian is named as the state language. In 2013, the country’s constitutional court considered that, on this basis, the state language should have such a name, although it is called Moldovan in the constitution.
