In 20-25 regions of Russia, remote electronic voting (DEV) may be used in the elections in September this year. Now the Central Election Commission (CEC) is assessing the capabilities of the subjects. This was announced by the chairman of the CEC Ella Pamfilova.
“We know for sure that more than 20 regions will use the DEG system in the upcoming elections in September. The process of selecting and assessing the capabilities of subjects is currently ongoing. Closer to the opening of the election campaign – already in early June – we will definitely determine the regions that will use online voting. I think that there will be about 20-25 of them,” said Ms. Pamfilova “RIA News”.
This year, the unified voting day in Russia will be held on September 10th. On this day, the heads of 23 regions of Russia, as well as deputies of 16 regional parliaments, will be elected. Earlier in the CEC spokethat in the presidential elections in 2024, the DEG will be used only in those regions where such voting experience already exists.
