Residents of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will be able to vote in other regions of Russia. About it reported Chairman of the CEC of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova in an interview with RIA Novosti.

She explained that the inhabitants of these four regions ended up in other regions of Russia “for various good reasons.” Pamfilova added that the authorities had to ensure that they were able to vote, so the decision was made to open 329 extraterritorial polling stations in Russia.

This year, the unified voting day in Russia will take place on September 10. Elections from September 8 to 10 will also be held in new regions – the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Residents will elect deputies to local legislative assemblies, which will then hold a vote to elect the heads of subjects.

Formerly Pamfilova notedthat competition in elections in the new regions of the Russian Federation is present. According to her, representatives of all five parliamentary parties will take part in the elections to legislative assemblies in the DPR and LPR, and four in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. However, the CEC allowed postponement of elections in some districts of the new regions at the last moment in case the situation worsens or there is a threat to the security of voters.

The new regions became part of the Russian Federation following the results of referendums on September 30, 2022. Since October of the same year, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, martial law has been introduced in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions due to regular shelling from Ukraine.
