The head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, said that the election commissions canceled the voting results in four cases due to violations in regional and municipal elections held in Russia from September 8 to 10. The cancellations concern voting results at individual polling stations.
“Currently, we have four cases of invalidating the voting results,” she said during press conferences based on the results of a single voting day.
As an example, she cited a case at polling station No. 550 in Crimea, where during the by-elections to the State Duma in the Simferopol district, a member of the precinct election commission “right under the camera” threw ballots. According to Ella Pamfilova, an investigation will be conducted into this fact.
In addition, as Ms. Pamfilova noted, elections were canceled in one of the polling stations in the city of Shuya, Ivanovo region due to numerous reports from observers and candidates about possible violations. “There are often problems with Shuya. Officials do not always understand the boundaries of their competence,” she explained.
Also, according to the Central Election Commission, 1,307 ballots were declared invalid at 21 polling stations in 12 regions of the Russian Federation. She called this amount “small and insignificant.”
On September 8, in most regions of Russia, three-day voting began in elections of various levels – governors, deputies of legislative assemblies, as well as heads and deputies of municipalities. Elections in Russia from September 8 to 10 were held in 85 regions. In Moscow won the current mayor Sergei Sobyanin with 76.39%. In at least 13 more regions, incumbent governors won. Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrey Turchak statedthat she won a “convincing overall victory” in the elections, and her observers recorded no serious irregularities.
