Pamfilova: CEC knows about preparations to discredit elections in Russia

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia is aware of the preparations for discrediting the upcoming elections in the Russian Federation. This was stated by the chairman of the commission Ella Pamfilova.

“We already feel and know what preparations are also underway to demolish our elections and discredit them, especially the presidential ones,” said Pamfilova (quote according to RIA Novosti). She noted that “it is important to work ahead of the curve” and “it is important to advance <...> on the electoral front.

Elections of heads of subjects and deputies of local parliaments will be held on September 10 this year in 20 regions of Russia. Elections of deputies of representative bodies of municipalities and administrative centers will also be held in 12 regions. In particular, new regions will take part in the single voting day (UDG) – the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

In the middle of May Pamfilova statedthat the preparations for the elections in the new regions are on schedule, despite the “difficult conditions”. According to her, the voting premises are equipped with the necessary equipment, the necessary communications are being laid to them. In addition, preparations are being completed for the training of members of election commissions, which, according to her, will take place in several stages.

Presidential elections in the Russian Federation will be held in 2024. In January, Pamfilova informedthat the CEC has already begun preparations for them. After that, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that Vladimir Putin has not yet made any statements on this subject. In February, the president announced that all elections would be held in strict accordance with the law.
