The head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Ella Pamfilova, believes that multi-day voting has become traditional in Russia and was liked by Russians. “Voting over three days is already becoming traditional for our electoral system, yes. The process is still ongoing, dynamic,” said the head of the Central Election Commission during a discussion of the project on three-day voting for the elections in March 2024. Ella Pamfilova claims that Russians “liked” the three-day voting following the results of the past regional elections.
On the eve of the Federation Council appointed presidential elections on March 17. Today the Central Election Commission is holding its first meeting dedicated to the start of the election campaign. The Central Election Commission will consider the possibility of three-day voting in the presidential elections. The decision to hold elections in the regions annexed to Russia will be made before December 12 after consultations with the security forces.
The current president, Vladimir Putin, has not announced his participation in the elections. Kommersant’s sources reported the formation of an initiative group to nominate him. His press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that so far no decisions have been made in this regard in the Kremlin.
