Pamfilova: average turnout in regional elections was 35%

The average turnout in the last regional elections on September 9-11 was 35%, said Ella Pamfilova, chairman of the Central Election Commission.

“The average turnout was 35%, that is, more than a third of those who could take part, they directly took part in the vote,” she said (quote according to TASS).

At the same time, the turnout of voters who decided to vote remotely was 82-89%, she added, transmits Interfax.

Commenting on the past elections, Pamfilova emphasizedthat this is the first single day of voting for the period of her leadership of the CEC of Russia, “when, when establishing the results, there were no loud scandals and outrages in the premises of the commissions.” She explained that earlier cases of illegal and sometimes quite aggressive behavior of some representatives of parties and candidates at polling stations were regularly recorded, but this did not happen this year.

Governor’s campaigns in 14 regions ended the victory of the current heads of regions and those appointed by the president. Two current governors and six acting governors received over 80% election results – Anton Alikhanov (Kaliningrad region), Alexey Tsydenov (Buryatia), Yuri Zaitsev (Mari El), Alexander Avdeev (Vladimir region), Pavel Malkov (Ryazan region) , Maxim Egorov (Tambov region), Mikhail Evraev (Yaroslavl region), Vladimir Mazur (Tomsk region). Moreover, in the Tomsk region in the 2017 elections, the former governor Sergei Zhvachkin received 60%.

The campaign in Udmurtia became the most competitive – there the current head of the region Alexander Brechalov received 64%, and his closest rival Alexander Syrov (KPRF) – 20%. In all regions except Udmurtia, the results of the heads turned out to be higher than in the previous elections.

Of the six regions where deputies of legislative assemblies were elected, in five (Udmurtia, Krasnodar Territory, Penza Region, Saratov Region, North Ossetia), United Russia received more than 50% of the lists.
