Marketplace Ozon (MOEX: OZON) will introduce a service fee for partner owners of order pick-up points from April 2024, announced Forbes with reference to the company’s press release. The funds received will be used for additional investments in attracting customers, ensuring affordable prices and promoting pick-up points.

As Ozon clarified, the amount of the service fee will depend on the population density in the city where the pick-up point is located, the average cost of renting it and turnover. For beginning entrepreneurs, the fee will be 1 rub. per point. Additional sources of earnings for partners, including processing returns, will not be affected by the fee, Ozon noted.

Ozon has 45 thousand order pick-up points, 98% of which are partnerships, owned by more than 20 thousand entrepreneurs. Owners of dispensaries surveyed by Forbes said they did not support the measure and reported a decrease in income levels of 30–40%.

As Kommersant FM reported, in February the Federation Council developed a bill that would limit the opening of new logistics infrastructure facilities for marketplaces, including pick-up points, if online platforms occupy more than a quarter of the market in the country. In case of violation, it is proposed to introduce a turnover fine.
