Marketplaces Ozon, Wildberries and Yandex.Market have created a system for exchanging information about sellers of counterfeit products. Thus, they want to prevent the sale of illegal goods and reduce their distribution on the Internet, the Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT) said.
Information about cases of counterfeit placement, as well as information about the seller and data from documents confirming the violation will be entered into the system. A marketplace that detects a counterfeit will block it on its website. If the same seller is noticed on other sites, it will be possible to request documents from him and, if they are absent or unreliable, also be blocked.
Marketplaces intend, together with the Federal Antimonopoly Service, to develop a mechanism to suspend the activities of counterfeit suppliers. It is assumed that at first the activity of the seller will be suspended for three months, in case of repeated violation, he may be refused the placement of product offers on all sites of the country connected to the system, clarifies TASS with reference to AKIT.
The day before Wildberries announced launch in August of a service for checking the authenticity of products by copyright holders. This initiative was proposed after accusations of selling counterfeit goods. Such complaints voiced Minpromtorg. By decision of the government, from March 1, 2023, marketplaces will have to mark goods, which means a ban on the sale of counterfeit goods.
