Marketplaces will create a single database of counterfeit suppliers

Russian marketplaces Wildberries, Ozon and “Yandex Market” created a unified information system where information about sellers working with counterfeit goods will be stored, informed TASS with reference to the statement of the Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT).

In the association’s message, it is specified that the companies have already begun to exchange data. “The decision will prevent possible cases of sales of illegal goods and reduce their distribution in the Russian Internet segment,” AKIT notes.

Information about cases of counterfeit placement, information about the seller of such goods and information from documents confirming the violation will be entered into a single system. After blocking on one of the marketplaces, information about the seller will be sent to the general information system, and other sites will be able to check his work on their own resources.

Together with the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), marketplaces want to create a mechanism to suspend the activities of suppliers working with counterfeit goods. If fakes are detected, the seller may receive a ban on the site for a period of three months, in case of repeated violation, he may be denied placement on all sites connected to the system.

According to AKIT President Artem Sokolov, now the volume of counterfeit products is only 0.1% of the total number of goods, but even this is enough to hit the reputation of all online commerce. “The establishment of parallel import mechanisms, that is, the legal import of original goods, together with the information system, will become a reliable tool in the fight against sellers who bypass the legislation of the Russian Federation,” he said.
