Russian farmers have threshed over 105 million tons of grain. In general, the harvesting campaign crossed the “equator” across the country, reported Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev on the course of field work.
Harvesting of other crops, including rapeseed, potatoes, sugar beets and vegetables, is also on schedule. Winter sowing has already started in 43 regions: 1.7 million hectares have been sown.
“In 2023, we plan to reach 20 million hectares,” Patrushev added, quoted by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The ministry also reported that the volume of fertilizer purchases in 2023 exceeded last year’s level. Farmers have already received 80% of state support funds, which is also higher than last year’s figures.
The authorities of the southern regions of Russia, which usually lead in grain collection, reported on the results of the active phase of harvesting campaigns on August 3. Most grain was harvested in the Rostov region – over 70% of the area was threshed there.
