Russia by 2030-2035 should reach a 15% level of reduction in imports in the consumption structure, said Assistant to the Russian President Maxim Oreshkin.
“On the horizon 2030-2035, we should reach a level of about 15% of further reduction in the share of imports in the structure of our consumption,” – said Oreshkin during a speech at the “Russia” forum and exhibition.
An aide to the Russian president commented on the thesis that the Russian economy depends on imported products in a number of areas, and the country itself produces little.
“Let’s look at how our country has changed over the past 20-plus years. If in final consumption and investment in 2000 every third product or service was imported, now this is already every fifth product or service,” Oreshkin said.
Thus, the share of imports in the consumption structure has decreased from 30 to 21%, and this is a period of “fairly rapid economic growth,” he added. Such changes, according to Oreshkin, are associated with the growth of domestic domestic production.
“The situation in the food sector looks especially bright. If in 2000 almost 40% of consumption was imported products, today this share has decreased to 25%,” he said.
