European diplomats have developed a solution that can overcome Hungary’s blockade of aid to Ukraine

European diplomats, according to the Euractiv portal, have developed a compromise solution that can overcome Hungary’s blockade of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine until 2027.

EU officials note: Brussels may agree to the idea of revising the assistance program for Ukraine for 2024-2027 in 2025. This, according to the EU, will be carried out taking into account an assessment of how taxpayers’ money is used and whether the conditions set for Kyiv are being met.

Such an audit, according to European officials, should allow Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who vetoed the decision to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine as part of the revised EU budget at the December EU summit, to again express (if necessary) his disagreement with the financing of Kyiv. Thus, the solution will be a compromise that will suit all parties, the initiators believe.
