Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that a new package of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros will be aimed at supporting the Ukrainian economy, and not at purchasing weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He said this on radio Kossuth.
“These 50 billion euros that we are talking about will not go towards weapons, but will go towards ensuring that the bankrupt Ukrainian state does not collapse. Ukraine has collapsed in terms of the Ukrainian economy,” he said.
Orban noted that time is on Russia’s side, and the situation will not change in favor of Ukraine, despite other opinions in the European Union.
At the summit in Brussels, all 27 leaders of the European Union reached agreement on the issue of allocating 50 billion euros to Ukraine. Hungary, which had previously opposed it, eventually supported the move.
Macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, consisting of 17 billion euros in grants and 33 billion euros in loans, will be provided for the period from 2024 to 2027. .
