Hungarian President Viktor Orban said that Kazakhstan is historically home to Hungarians, as the ancestors of his people lived here. Orban is currently on an official visit to Astana, where he is holding talks with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
“It’s always nice to come home,” Orban said at a meeting with a colleague. “Hungarians come to Kazakhstan with great pleasure.” The Hungarian leader called “thousand-year common roots” the reason for good relations between states.
Tokayev, whose words were quoted by Sputnik Kazakhstan, agreed with Orban’s words and added that the politician is well known and respected in the republic. “Because you are Kypshak by origin,” explained the Kazakh leader.
