The head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orban, sent official congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who won a landslide victory in the presidential elections. The press secretary of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Bertalan Havasi, spoke about this on Thursday, March 21.

As Orban noted in his congratulatory letter, “he is pleased that cooperation between Hungary and Russia is based on mutual respect and this allows important issues to be discussed even in the current very difficult geopolitical situation.”

At the same time, the Hungarian politician assured Vladimir Putin that Hungary “is ready to expand cooperation between our countries in areas not limited by international law.”

Before this, Viktor Orban stated that Hungary should gain more influence in the European Union and politically occupy Brussels if it wants to preserve its freedom and sovereignty. According to him, “Hungarians live differently” than the modern West, and “they want to continue to live differently.”

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto warned that Ukraine will not win the confrontation with the Russian Federation. He also recalled that Hungary is the only member country of the North Atlantic Alliance that refuses to transfer weapons to the Ukrainian army.
