The head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orban, again criticized the plans of the European Union to introduce quotas for the resettlement of migrants. According to this plan, the mandatory distribution of migrants arriving in Europe between EU member states is assumed.
In early June, the heads of the Ministries of the Interior of the EU countries met in Luxembourg, where they agreed on a common approach to asylum issues and the corresponding procedure.
Orban expressed his dissatisfaction on Twitter, pointing out that “Brussels again calls for the introduction of mandatory quotas for migrants” and at the same time mentioned the “Soros empire”, alluding to the influence of billionaire George Soros on the migration policy of the European Union.
Earlier, the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Fiala, also said that his country is against quotas for the resettlement of migrants from the Middle East and the Mediterranean.
Thus, both leaders voiced their opposition to EU plans to introduce migrant resettlement quotas, fearing potential repercussions and supporting national sovereignty in making decisions about migration.
