The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Crimea announced the administrative arrest of a local lawyer accused of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.
According to the police, the citizen posted “information prohibited for distribution” on the social network. Searches were carried out at the lawyer’s place of residence, during which the police, with the support of employees of the regional FSB Directorate, “identified materials aimed at discrediting the RF Armed Forces and government bodies.”
Two protocols were drawn up against the citizen under the Code of Administrative Offenses – for discrediting, as well as for “propaganda or public display of Nazi or extremist paraphernalia.”
By decision of the court, the citizen was placed under arrest for 15 days, and also imposed a fine of 45 thousand rubles. The issue of depriving him of his license to carry out professional activities is also being resolved. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the man represents one of the local legal associations and in the past defended “persons suspected of participation” in organizations banned in the Russian Federation and those accused of terrorism.
