In the event of a war and a threat to Germany, only one in ten Germans would be ready to defend the country with weapons in their hands, according to the results of a survey conducted by the international analytical company YouGov.
Reportedly, 2,000 adult respondents were interviewed. They were asked if they were ready to defend the country if it found itself in a similar situation with Ukraine. “What do you think you would most likely do personally in a similar situation”? – the respondents were asked
As a result, only 5% of the Germans would volunteer to fight, another 6% expect that they will be called up in case of war and used to defend the country.
At the same time, every third (33%) would try to continue their usual life. Almost every fourth German (24%) in the event of a war would leave the country as soon as possible, while young people predominate in this category of respondents.
