OneWeb has practically come to terms with the inability to return its equipment from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. This was stated by the chief executive of the company Neil Masterson.
According to Reuters, we are talking about 36 satellites, the cost of which is estimated at $50 million.
“Their return would be valuable, but I can say that in the foreseeable future I will not get them back,” Masterson admitted.
At the same time, he admitted that the vehicles could be returned in the future through intergovernmental negotiations. At the same time, the head of the company considered the risk that Russia could gain access to OneWeb technologies to be insignificant.
Currently, 582 of the 588 OneWeb satellites needed to provide global coverage are in orbit.
