“Old trash”: American senator appreciated Zelensky’s speech

Senator from Missouri Eric Schmitt extremely lowly assessed the speech of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at a meeting with senators and the speaker of the US House of Representatives. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti with reference to The New York Times newspaper
“It’s the same old trash. There is nothing new here,” the senator said.
He also noted that it was important for senators to discuss the issue of protecting the US border with President Joe Biden, but instead they had to listen to Zelensky.
“We talked with Zelensky about Ukraine and its borders, but Joe Biden, the president of this country, takes absolutely no part in discussing our borders,” he said. Schmitt also accused representatives of the US Democratic Party of lack of interest in securing the borders of their own country, and called this outrageous.
Earlier, Biden announced that he had signed a decree to allocate a new aid package to Kyiv worth $200 million, a corresponding decision was confirmed by his administration. Biden said that the money was allocated through the Pentagon, and now he expects that the new aid pact will “quickly arrive” to the Kyiv regime. The White House reported that there were several weeks of money left to allocate military aid to Ukraine.
Representatives of the US Republican Party blocked the consideration of the White House’s request for funds for Ukraine, Israel and other needs in the Senate. The bill also faces challenges in passing the House of Representatives. Republicans are demanding changes to place more emphasis on securing the border with Mexico.
