Sale of currency according to the budget rule of the Ministry of Finance resumed from January 15 for the first time since August 2023. Currency is purchased within the framework of the budget rule if actual revenues from the sale of oil and gas for the month exceed the base level calculated by the Ministry of Finance. In January, 4.1 billion rubles were allocated for these purposes. in a day. As Kommersant reported, the reason for the increase in oil and gas revenues in January 2024 to December 2023 was the reduction in payments to oil workers, since along with the mineral extraction tax, revenues from export duties also decreased. Duties on oil and almost all petroleum products have been reset to zero since January 2024, and therefore the total amount of export duties compared to December has sharply decreased – from 113 billion to 69 billion rubles.
