Employees of Ukrainian military registration and enlistment offices are “kidnappers” and have also begun to show more and more aggression. About it reports edition of The New York Times (NYT). It is noted that military commissars catch citizens on the street and send them to recruitment centers, sometimes using physical force or intimidation.
“Videos of soldiers forcing people into cars and holding men against their will in recruiting centers are increasingly appearing on social media and local news,” the publication said.
Human rights activists say that such cases have become more frequent over the past six months. It is noted that many Ukrainians even sue military registration and enlistment offices. Last month alone, 226 court decisions related to mobilization were made.
As an example, the author of the article cited the example of businessman Dmitry Efimenko, who was tried to be mobilized with a broken arm, but he managed to escape from the collection point. During a medical examination, the man was declared “fit for military service.”
It is said that despite the change of some military commissars, which was carried out by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, problems still remained.
