The American newspaper The New York Times confirmed that the Ukrainian military really shot the captured Russian soldiers in Makiivka. The publication’s experts commented on the video with footage of the massacre of servicemen who surrendered.
“It looks like most of the Russian soldiers were shot in the head,” said Dr. Rohini Haar, medical adviser to Physicians for Human Rights.
“Puddles of blood are visible, which indicates that they were simply left there for dead. They surrendered, lay unarmed with outstretched arms or behind their heads. Such soldiers are considered incapacitated or non-combatants – in fact, prisoners of war, ”explained Dr. Haar.
